Very friendly, nice and helpful. Everything was clean and organized. Huge selection with big portions. The food was great and the young lady never let my coffee cup run dry! Definitely a great place to grab some food!

Was that a coffee filter that she was wearing on her head? Magazine AR, a wide spot in the road (Highway 10). The speed limit drops to 45mph, 25 when school is open. If you didn’t have to slow down you would easily miss the long plain looking building and the small sign on the south side of the highway, Mel’s Highway 10 Café. It looks to have been around for quite a few years. The spacing of multiple doors on the front of the building, hint that in its early life it may have been operated as a small motel or roadside cabins. Country décor inside, knotty pine, barn tin and farm tools on the wall. Grab a table. The well-worn menus have the diner foods you were expecting. Beans and corn bread, a southern staple was today’s special on the chalk board. On the menu under Platters is “Mel’s Famous Chicken Fried Steak.” Under that, the Chicken Fried Chicken. Two please, with mashed potatoes, fried okra, and cream gravy. The drinks are limited, but they did have diet Dr Pepper. A delicious, moist chicken breast with a perfect crispy crunchy coating. Mashed potatoes and cream gravy, likely instant but very tasty. Golden brown okra and a couple of fresh yeast rolls to clean up any stray gravy on the plate. Nothing fancy, great food, adequate friendly service. And an opportunity to enjoy a slower pace of life in rural Arkansas You will quickly figure out that this is an Amish owned business. The friendly ladies working out front were dressed in a traditional Amish conservative attire, which included the white bonnets. I cannot help it, but the bonnets remind me of coffee filters. A gentleman stepped out of the kitchen sporting the Amish bowl cut hair style with the traditional trimmed beard. These are hardworking people serving legendary delicious Amish made meals.

Had the belt buster, fried eggs, hasbrowns, sausage gravy, and biscuits. Got the 1/2 order. Good, but I had eggshells. Also ordered the morning special, bacon, 2 eggs, hasbrowns, and choice of pancake, which I got, biscuits and gravy, or toast. Good, but I missed a little flavor. Pancake was like a sponge texture and very good .

Mel’s Hwy 10 Cafe is a cozy haven for food enthusiasts seeking genuine home-style cooking. Here’s why it’s become one of my favorite spots: Comfort Food Bliss: From the moment you step inside, the aroma of comfort food envelops you. The chicken fried steak here is nothing short of legendary. Crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned—it’s the best around! Belt Buster Breakfast: For breakfast lovers, the “Belt Buster” is a must-try. Fried eggs, hash browns, sausage gravy, and biscuits—this hearty plate will keep you fueled all day. Friendly Service: The staff at Mel’s is warm and welcoming. They make you feel like family, and their attentive service adds to the overall experience. Pancake Adventure: The morning special, complete with bacon, eggs, hash browns, and a choice of pancake, left me satisfied. The pancake had a unique sponge-like texture—different but delightful. Roadside Charm: Mel’s Hwy 10 Cafe may be a roadside diner, but it’s a treasure trove of flavors. Whether you’re passing through or a local, this place feels like home. In summary, Mel’s Hwy 10 Cafe is where comfort meets flavor. It’s a slice of small-town magic that leaves you craving more.

My wife and I stopped here for dinner. We were a little skeptical about trying a little roadside diner. Boy are we glad we stopped, and ate. The waitress was very friendly and gave us suggestions on what to order. I ordered the chicken fried steak sandwich, and my wife ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. Our food came out fairly quick. The CFS sandwich was huge, and hand breaded, and it was one of the best ones I have ever eaten. The bun was so fresh, they must make them in house. The chicken sandwich was hand breaded, and it was a good portion, and It was served on the same fresh bun. Definitely a must stop if you are in the area of Magazine AR.

Always good food. Homemade. Country diner with friendly staff. Chicken fried steak is great. Picture is of "patty melt". Not traditional but very good. Chicken strip, cheeseburgers and onion rings are great also.

I gotta say, this place is a hidden gem!! We have lived in Greenwood for 22 years and had no idea about this place, so let me say it loud enough for those in the back, "WE ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!" We will most definitely be back as well! We loved everything about it! Everything was clean, inviting, our waitress was super friendly, the food tasted AMAZING, the sweet tea was on point, the prices were FANTASTIC & I lived seeing a lot of locals coming in and meeting up for dinner and catching up with old friends & neighbors. Everyone was talking to everyone and was super friendly even with us. It reminded me so much of my grandmothers restaurant she used to have many years ago in West Texas. As my husband and I looked around, we noticed this appears to be a family owned business, and we just fell in live with it and will be back! I would also like to say that our waitress who was suffering from horrible allergy issues was still working hard & killing it! She was still friendly and was in no way looking to go home sick or let it get the better of her or even sliw her down. She was a gem, and in today's world, that is quite rare. She is so far above average workers that we tipped her really, REALLY well and commended her on her smile, her friendliness, her work ethic, and customer service skills even while she was clearly suffering. We will be coming back soon and will be bringing ALL our family to support this amazing small business!

This is a classic roadside diner that is a welcome sight to the tried driver. We enjoyed breakfast there and were still in the area at dinner time. The place is family friendly and the food is made with love. Anyone staying the Mount Magazine area should visit and eat here.
